Newcope
Building a YC-backed real-time auction platform in Silicon Valley
The Problem
Browser-based games lacked effective monetization through virtual goods trading. Existing solutions were clunky, slow, and couldn't handle the real-time bidding dynamics needed for engaging penny auctions. Game developers needed an embeddable, customizable solution.
The Approach
Co-founded Newcope and led both front-end and back-end development teams through Y Combinator's W2010 batch. Built a real-time penny auction platform as an embeddable iframe that game developers could customize and integrate. Engineered the system for low-latency bidding using Node.js and MongoDB, one of the earliest production uses of this stack.
